Reflecting on last year, 2020….. Goodness, it was not an easy year. There is no doubt that it may have been one of the most difficult years of our lives, with change beyond our control; but it has also given us time to better understand ourselves, connect with and value the people we care for and look at our employers or businesses in a different light.
And so we come to the end of 2020. I think we all are quite pleased about it! We trust valuable lessons were learnt - whether being much more technologically advanced (‘tech savvy’) and comfortable in front of the camera with Zoom, MS Teams, the value and importance of looking after our health and wellbeing, seriously working on having an emergency fund, new terminology used (‘grendeltyd’, Corona is a virus…..Covid19, social distancing, wearing masks (even when going into a bank!), etc etc.
In anticipation of Black Friday on 27 November and ‘special’ deals galore…. Never before has it been so important to have a serious look at our finances! Covid19 has shocked us into reality! Were you planning, budgeting, saving, accessing your emergency ‘fund’ to ;’survive’ this pandemic?
As our businesses slowly, but surely, return to some kind of normality and we start planning for 2021, it is perhaps a time to revisit your values to ensure that all act and behave in line with your values at all times.
It is with great pleasure and excitement to let you know of Uluma’s ‘new’ updated website! Please have a look and let me know what you think!
In my previous newsletter, I referred to the importance of having a PURPOSE. As an added service to clients, I wish to inform you that I am now a certified coach and facilitator with MOTTO Business Consulting to coach both the Individual Assessment as well as the Gender Perception Tool. Both are online assessments.
This ongoing Covid19 situation has shattered our ‘normal’ worlds and we had to change many ways of doing things. Through this, I am reminded how important it is to have PURPOSE. We, as humans, need PURPOSE, get up to go somewhere, do something, work, build, make, write, edit, create, produce, work towards our goals, etc. Our jobs are part of living a life on PURPOSE and with PURPOSE.
South Africa needs women who are self-empowered and view themselves as equal and businesses need to attract, retain and develop female employees, ensuring the best participation and contribution from women in the workplace. Furthermore, with reference to gender-based violence in South Africa, is it not the perfect time to conduct these assessments within our organisations and teams?
Being an effective Mentor is now globally recognised as one of the most sought after “executive capabilities”, as company effectiveness, competitive advantage and sustainability are directly linked to its ability to share and transfer its own “experiential wisdom”.
We are all capable of setting and achieving goals. So many people ‘think’ they have goals, but never put in the work that is required to achieve them. We need to have goals in order to live meaningful and significant lives. Goals give us purpose and meaning.
