MY VISA FINALLY ARRIVED
Last week, after 15 weeks’ waiting, I just could not even think of writing a newsletter.
I will, however, only travel beginning of October as my daughter can only take leave then. You know that annual leave is always at the convenience of the EMPLOYER…. so October I shall travel to Dublin now that I, eventually, have my passport back WITH the visa!
I realised that waiting is not one of my strengths. And again, thinking of David Rock’s SCARF model, that uncertainty caused so much stress and anxiety. Imagine that same uncertainty in the workplace.
Employees not knowing if they are getting an increase, when and if bonusses will be paid… and many other questions and uncertainties, such as……Have I
successfully completed my probation period? Does my manager see my efforts and extra time I am putting in? When are the performance appraisal conversations starting? Should I prepare for that? Oh, I would love to know more about…. other departments’, colleagues in other branches / sites / provinces, our company’s vision….and the list goes on and on and on!
I have found that employees (well, those who add significant value) really want to be included in what goes on and want to be kept informed.
So, please make sure you pro-actively communicate regularly and effectively with all your teams to ensure that your business performs in excellence!
